Ski Tour Bernese Oberland

New in our programme from winter 2009 is the Ski Tour of the Western Bernese Oberland. This tour is much quieter then the famous Haute Route, the huts are very good quality and the scenery amazing! It is equally as challenging as the Haute Route, therefore some previous ski touring experience is required to join this trip.

If you feel like further exploring the Alps on skis our knowledgeable office staff and guides have many suggestions of different ski tours all over the Alps. Going slightly off the famous routes you often find that the huts are very nice and quiet, the service very friendly and most importantly, you are totally on your own in the mountains. Please do not hesitate to ask. We would be pleased to put an itinerary together for all levels. looking down where we were heading parallel touring

Late winter in Chamonix!!

Wow, what an end to the winter season! We are getting more and more snow and big flakes are falling from the sky as I write. We will have a few more good weeks of Vallee Blanche, Off-Piste skiing and Ski Touring. Call us to book a Chamonix Guide.

We can still run the Haute Route for any last minute bookings. Or why not a ski tour in the Bernese Oberland, a great place for late season ski touring (see our latest blog for photos). If you are feeling fit and up for a real challenge you can ski Mont Blanc normally as late as the end of May.

Off-Piste course in April

Christie on the Glacier du GeantThe winter is far from over! We have had a lot of snow recently in the Chamonix mountains and we are expecting even more this week with very cold temperatures. The off-piste conditions are better than they have been all season. Therefore we have decided to run two more Off-Piste Courses in April, which is often the month providing the best powder skiing of the season.

Dates: April 6-11 & 13-18.

Contact us for more information.

Join now: Avalanche Awareness Course 24/03

Ski tourer on avalanche debrisWe have spaces available on an Avalanche Awareness Course that is running on Monday, the 24th of March. If you ski off-piste, or do any backcountry skiing, ski touring or ski mountaineering, your avalanche awareness skills should definitely be up to speed!

A certified Mountain Guide will take you to one of the ski areas in the Chamonix valley and teach you all about mountain safety regarding avalanches: how to read the terrain, taking into account wind, temperature, aspect and weather history; how to ski safely; and if all preventative measures fail, what to do if an avalanche does occur. After learning the practical theory, you will have the chance to do your own searches using avalanche transceivers.
