Winter is on its way here in Chamonix. While the snow is yet to come we are experiencing very cold temperatures which bodes well for the ice climbing and winter mountaineering this season.

We have revised and improved our Winter Mountaineering Course for 2012. The course is to be run with small guide: participant ratios, which means more climbing for everyone.

Our first course running 1^st – 6^th of January is already guaranteed to run too!

This year we are selling the week at a great price of only 1095€ per person.

Price includeds: 5 days guiding with IFMGA guide, avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, in-resort transport.
Not included: Personal equipment, mountain rescue insurance, airport transfers, accomodation and food, uplifts (approx 120€).

We are running two AIARE Level 1 courses this winter.

Both are guaranteed to run.

We can run two courses on these dates is there is demand!

The Level 1 course is designed to help you build a framework for making decisions in avalanche terrain.  It combines classroom and field sessions to build the tools you need to plan and execute a day skiing or snowboarding in avalanche terrain. 

AIARE qualified IFMGA mountain guide Miles Smart will be leading these courses and cost for three days including course materials and avalanche gear is 290€.

It is a brilliant course and a must do for anyone interested in skiing independantly off the beaten track.

With the definite arrival of winter and the subsequent opening of the lifts in Chamonix, Chamex is full steam ahead with taking bookings.

We have had huge demand for our Avalanche Awareness and Crevasse Rescue courses – essential for all those who live, work and play in the mountains.

We are delighted to announce that Namaste Sport, a current resident of Argentiere, is in the process of moving in to the Alpcenter next to the Chamonix Experience office.

Namaste Sport, owned by Rob, will have a full range of ski touring equipment, boots, skis, hire equipment, and looks forward to welcoming you to the shop.

Rob is in full swing moving into the premises now, and hopes to open just in time for the start of the season in mid December.

He will be a great addition to our Alpcenter team so please do come and visit.

New this year is Chamonix Experience AIARE Avalanche Course. This 3 day course covers the fundamentals of avalanche hazard management, avalanche rescue and decision making in avalanche terrain.

At its core, this Level 1 course is designed to help you build a framework for making decisions in avalanche terrain.  We will combine classroom and field sessions to build the tools you need to plan and execute a day in avalanche terrain.  This will include utilizing weather and avalanche resources, making field snowpack observations, understanding the pitfalls of human decision making patterns, and implementing route and terrain selection options. This course is a must for all skiers, snowboarders, alpinists and anyone spending time in avalanche terrain.

AIARE qualified IFMGA mountain guide Miles Smart will be leading these courses and cost for three days including course materials and avalanche gear is 270€.
