Glacier Walks
The lifts in the Chamonix valley gives us quick access to magnificent glaciers and high mountain scenery. Accompanied by a mountain guide and equipped with boots, crampons, harness and ice axe you can go for a walk on a glacier and look into the deep crevasses and up to towering ice pinnacles around you. It is truly a memorable experience.
There are two spots for this, the first being the Mer de Glace, which is a bit easier and not so high. This location also offers the opportunity to try some ice climbing in the crevasses, which is great fun. The other option is to go up the Aiguille du Midi and do a traverse of the Vallee Blanche, which requires a slightly higher fitness level.
All required gear can be hired.

A brand new Via Ferrata route has opened just outside the Chamonix valley in the quaint little village of Plaine Joux.

OTHER EVENTS SUGGESTIONS:
Dinner at Grand Hotel du Montenvers
The Hotel Montenvers, situated at nearly 2000m in the heart of the mountains above the Mer de Glace and with a view of famous peaks like Le Dru, is one of the most unique dining spot you can possibly imagine. Departing Chamonix around 7pm you travel up the mountain by the historical Montenvers rack and pinion railway. While you enjoy the spectacular views during the 25 minutes long journey, you are being served a glass of cold Champagne. At Montenvers Hotel a three or four course dinner is waiting for you in the authentic environment of this late 19th century building. Many writers, mountaineers and adventurers have written history in this building. Around midnight the train will return back down to Chamonix town where those who want can continue to one of the many bars.
Group size: minimum of 40-50 people
When: all year, except for temporary closing of the Montenvers train
