Snowboard Off-Piste Course
NEW THIS WINTER!
Chamonix stands out as one of the off-piste and extreme ski capitals of the world. What could be a better place for an off-piste course? The main ski areas of the Grands Montets, Brévent, Flégère and Le Tour take on a whole new dimension when you venture away from the groomed runs. In addition, you have the Vallée Blanche, probably the most renowned off-piste descent in the world. As if that was not enough, we now also have access to Courmayeur and La Palud on the Italian side, only a 30min drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel.
Course Description
Taking the step away from the controlled environment of the groomed runs to the uncontrolled and unpatrolled off-piste is not easy and not without risk; solid off-piste techniques are essential and an understanding of the environment in which you are skiing is equally important. With this in mind, Chamonix Experience has developed our Snowboard Off-Piste Course.
Chamonix Experience Snowboard Off-Piste Course focuses on instruction. It will transform your enjoyment of skiing. During the coursee you will also touch on the two subjects of avalanche awareness and glacier travel to give you and understanding of the environment that you are in and the additional risks involved.
A few of the Chamonix Experience guides are qualified ski instructors as well as IFMGA mountain guides and normally it will be one of them leading the course. Alternatively, the first three days will be under the tutelage of a snowboard instructor who will teach you off-piste technique. You will then have a free day to pratice your new kills before spending the last 2 days with an IFMGA mountain guide. You guide will be to take you to snowboard some of the remote areas across glaciers.
To maximise your time and your skiing we leave it up to your instructor / guide to tailor the programme to suit weather, conditions and the overall level of the group. Every day s/he will choose the area offering the best off-piste snowboard conditions.
