Rock climbing - Chapelle de la Gliere
Les Aiguilles Rouges in the Chamonix valley has a lot of great rock climbing. We set off to do one of the old classic routes, the Chapelle de la Gliere. It is easily graded with most pitches being around 4 and 5 but it has got a real “big mountain feel” to it and it is not always THAT easy. It is only partly equipped with some old pitons so you need a rack of friends, nuts and slings.
There is the famous “rasoir”, “the razor” pitch. Probably one of the most photogenic rock climbing pitches in the Alps. You want to make sure the person leading has the camera to take a photo of the second person climbing up it with Mont Blanc in the background….unfortunately we didn’t.
What a great route and what a great day!
This route can be guided in one day. You should have some previous rock climbing experience and one guide can take one or two people. Contact the Chamonix Experience office for more information or to book a guide.
