Since two days ago we have about 30cm of snow on the ground outside our office in Argentiere and the Grands Montets ski area will partly open on Saturday (5th of Dec.). We are getting excited about another winter season of great skiing.

Finally all the Chamex office girls manage to go skiing together….and we could not have picked a better day for it. 29th of April and full on winter!!?? We skied one lap after another of untracked powder on the Grands Montets and being that late in the season and mid week we did not even need to fight for it. It was amazing!!!! WOHOOOO!!!!

Although spring is just around the corner, you would not know it in Chamonix! We have been consistently getting great snow – at least one storm a week – which means that conditions are perfect for off-piste skiing!

We have had a lot more snow in Chamonix and the Mont Blanc range the last few days and the skiing has been fantastic. These photos are from skiing one of the routes down Vallee Blanche called the Grands Envers, this morning. This is one of the steeper and more challenging routes down the Vallee Blanche and is for experienced off-piste skiers only. It is normally guided with max 4 people per guide.

Haute Route 29th of March to 4th of April. 7 days guiding with 5 nights in mountain refuges. For anybody with previous ski touring experience.

Ski Mont Blanc 20th to 25th of April. 6 days guiding with 2 nights in mountain refuges. For expert skiers with previous ski mountaineering experience.

As a reaction to the current exchange rate and the overall economy Chamonix Experience is offering a sale on our 6 day Off-Piste course. From the normal price of 1995€, it has now been reduced to 1850€.

This course is all-inclusive with half board accommodation at the comfortable Yeti Lodge in Argentiere. This includes 6 days with a fully qualified IFMGA guide and ski instructor, as well as lift pass and local transport. This course is suitable for you who are in the beginning of your off-piste skiing career. It will improve your off-piste ski technique as well as teach you to be safe in the mountains. We have the options of skiing in the Chamonix valley as well as in Courmayeur and Helbronner on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, all great off-piste areas.
Next course with places still available is running the 26th to the 31st of January.
Later course dates are: 9-14 February, 9-14 March and 23-28 March.

What a great start to the season with all this snow and all this great off piste skiing!

Off piste skiing is allowed in most parts of the Alps and under each ones responsibility. It is a privilege to have this freedom but before getting too excited and heading out off piste you should have an understanding of the risks involved in skiing out of marked and controlled areas and know what to do in case of an avalanche.
We would like to encourage everybody who skis off piste to take an avalanche course in the beginning of every season.

Chamonix Experience 1 day Avalanche Awareness course lead by IFMGA mountain guide is running every Wednesday and Saturday through out the season.
