Few words from Fleur our Mountain Guide in charge of that introduction course:
Five amazing days of ski touring in the heart of the massif du Mont-Blanc
We started with the Col des Crochues and the Breche de Berard ; a perfect tour to practise kick turns and see the basics of ski touring : uphill and downhill travels, skins on and skin off …. And a long descent in the powder to end the day... What else...
The day after, we first skied on the glacier d'Argentiere and we skinned up to col du Passon at 3000 meters. It was a nice introduction to ski mountaineering and alpine ski routes. The team was delighted.
The weather forecast was really good for the two next days, consequently we decided to leave for 2 days and sleep in a hut.
On Thursday morning, we took the direction to Italy. After one hour and an half walk in Val Ferret we reached the Bonatti hut. It was only 1 am and we took the advantage of the sunny afternoon to train on the avalanche rescue. After that we really enjoyed the night in this fabulous hut : a warm welcome and delicious italian food....
We left at 8am on Friday and summited the Tete d'entre deux seaux after 700 meters uphill. The snow was really hard to ski in the first part but then we found perfect powder to join the hut and in the forest to meet the cross country pistes of Val Ferret.
We had to do a last effort, pushing on our polls to reach the car. But the motivation was still here !
For our last day, on Saturday, the weather was bad with strong wind and snow forecasted for the afternoon. We choose to climb a part of the Grandes Autannes ridge in the Tour area. Despite stormy conditions, Claire, Jery, Anders and Peter surpassed themselves and finally went down the Nant Noir to arrive in Trient, Switzerland. The snow was surprisingly soft....
We finished the day around a drink in Vallorcine, and some nice “French patisseries” well deserved !
