Our ice climbing Guru, Jérome Blanc-Gras is inviting you to take a step further and explore the more advanced skills of ice climbing. Open to people who have ice climbing experience. No need to lead. Technical exercises will be set on top ropes.

Glaciériste & Guide de haute montagne, Jérome Blanc-Gras vous invite pour une sortie cascade de glace avec travail plus approfondi sur la gestuelle, les placements, trucs et astuces pour progresser en cascade de glace. Ce workshop nécessite d’avoir une expérience de base de la cascade. Il n’est pas nécessaire de passer en 1er de cordée. Les exercises seront organisés en moulinette.

06 January - WOMEN SKI TOUR DETOX

 

Let’s meet up for a Detox 1/2 day ski touring session. Time to exercise and burn the extra X-Mas calories! What a fun way to start the year! Time to get your kick turns up to speed. Time to ask all the questions, do all the « faffing » and get ready for 2020 ski touring season! 

Une petite sortie en peaux de phoque après les nombreux repas festifs, histoire de brûler quelques calories. L’idée est de rencontrer d’autres femmes qui souhaiteraient partager des sorties en rando durant la saison. C’est une bonne manière de se mettre en jambes et être prêtes pour débuter la saison 2020!

13 January - ARC’TERYX ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR SKI TOURING LEVEL 1

 

Rick Marchant IUAGM guide will help you to brush up on essential skills, perfecting kick turns, use of couteaux, learn to make a good skinning track, understanding terrain on the uphill and downhill.

La sortie SKI RANDO niveau 1 est destinée aux personnes qui souhaitent revoir les bases du ski de rando. Ouvert à tous ceux et celles qui souhaitent gagner en autonomie, perfectionner les conversions, utiliser leurs couteaux, apprendre à lire le terrain et à faire une bonne trace à la montée + choisir une bonne ligne à la descente.

17 January - ARC’TERYX ADVANCED SKI TOURING SKILLS

 

Following the Ski Touring Essential skills course, Rick Marchant IUAGM guide, wants to take you a step further and explore the more advanced skills of a ski mountaineer. When to use the rope, how to make belays, dealing with difficult terrain including understanding glacial terrain and the basics of crevasse rescue.

Une sortie pour gagner en autonomie: apprendre quand utiliser la corde, improviser des relais et comprendre la sécurité d’une progression sur glacier.

21 January - INTRO ICE CLIMBING

 

Explore & share an introduction to the ice climbing world. Learn about the equipment, safety and technique. If you already have some ice climbing experience it is a great day to get some mileage on ice.

L'idée est d’offrir la possibilité d'essayer la cascade de glace dans une atmosphère conviviale. Si vous n'avez jamais osé essayer, c'est l'occasion. Si vous en avez déjà fait et bien c’est l’occasion de ressortir votre matériel et de retrouver ses repères.

3 February - Women Ski Tour & Safety 

 

The idea of this outing is to get some uphill milage but also to get our safety equipment out and make sure everyone knows how to use their avalanche transceiver. We will organise a quick avalanche scenario and review the fundamentals for off-piste skiing.

Chaque 1er lundi du mois, nous organisons une sortie WOMEN 1/2 journée ski rando. Le concept est de créer un réseau de femmes qui aimeraient partager d’autres sorties de randonnées pendant la saison. 

Pour cette sortie de février, Isabelle Santoire Guide IFMGA organise une montée en peaux de phoque + un court scenario de sécurité avalanche afin de tester nos ARVA et de réviser les gestes d’urgence + les bases de sécurité à pour la descente en ski de rando.

9 FEBRUARY - ARC’TERYX ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR SPLIT BOARDING LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2

 

Didier Bobeau et Johann Courcelle, IUAGM guides will help you to brush up on essential skills specific for spit boarding, perfecting kick turns, use of couteaux, learn to make a good skinning track, understanding terrain on the uphill and downhill, use of the rope and lots more. The idea of the day is also to meet other boarders who are keen on touring.

La journée SPLIT BOARDING est ouverte à tous ceux et celles qui souhaitent gagner en autonomie, perfectionner les conversions, utiliser leurs couteaux, apprendre à lire le terrain et à faire une bonne trace à la montée + choisir une bonne ligne à la descente spécifique aux snowboarders. L’objectif de cette journée est aussi de rencontrer d’autres snowboarders dans la vallée intéressé(e)s par la rando.

2 March - women time 4 me

 

TIME 4 ME: school holidays, tons of work…  1/2 day outing to refuel and get some exercises.  We will share a few tips on how to be efficient at changing over from skinning mode to skiing mode.

TIME 4 ME: On est rapidement dépassé par les mille et une choses à faire et on délaisse souvent le temps pour soi, le temps pour se mettre en forme. Aucune excuse, on a organisé une 1/2 journée qui va vous inspirer. Le but de cette sortie est de partager des trucs et astuces pour devenir plus efficace dans les

  • Sebastien Rougegre, UIAGM mountain guide and former PGHM rescuer

PROGRAM

9 March at 19H00 Indoor session at Chamonix Experience offices (1 hour) We will cover specific emergency procedure and calls while experiencing a crevasse rescue demo. We will also discuss the crevasse rescue kit to carry when travelling on glaciers.

10 march from 08H00 to 17H00 full day crevasse rescue training

Specific training with emergency call and procedures, crevasse rescue kit to carry when travelling on glaciers, techniques including hauling your partner out of a crevasse, securing the lip of the crevasse, using a dead man anchor, installing a safety rope, and other essential skills.

 

 

LEVEL

Basic Mountaineering skills (having used crampons & ice axe before) Experience of climbing, belaying and abseiling is required. Fitness-wise you should be able to hike uphill for 2/3 hours. It is mandatory to join the indoor session to join the crevasse rescue the following day.(If you are not free for the day out and you are interested in joining the indoor session, it is possible to organise)
