One Week Tour du Mont Blanc

Tour du Mont Blanc guided trek, experience the best of the Alps in a week

The Tour du Mont Blanc is one of Europe’s classic long distance Alpine treks, or grandes randonnées. You'll complete a distance of around 90km (55 miles) and climb over 6500m (21325 feet) over the course of 6 incredible days.

The route makes a complete circuit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe and the highest peak in the Alps, passing through the three neighbouring countries of France, Switzerland and Italy.

The start and finish of our Mont Blanc trek is in Chamonix, the European capital of mountaineering and a beautiful destination in its own right.

The Tour du Mont Blanc is not just a journey through and around stunning mountains, meadows and lakes but also a journey to discover different cultures, customs and cuisines. You will learn about the local flora, fauna and geology of three different countries and various diverse landscapes.

We have allowed 8 days for your entire trip, taking care that each of the stages represents a reasonable day’s walk and also ensuring that we have access to a good standard of overnight accommodation. Your luggage will be transported for you each day and will be waiting for you when you arrive at your hotel.

Accommodation

You will spend the first and the last nights at the Yeti Lodge in Argentiere. This is a very nice, newly renovated chalet with sauna, hot tub, secure parking and WiFi. The accommodation here is on a shared basis (twin rooms) with a continental breakfast (freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolate, bread, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, fruit juices and tea/coffee), afternoon tea with home made cake and 3 course evening meal.

For the remaining nights, we will book comfortable hotels, gites and mountain huts where you can enjoy the spectacular views and sunsets over the mountains. Where possible, we will book rooms with maximum two / three beds but some nights may be in larger dorm rooms. Please note that this is a very popular trek which passes through small villages where accommodation options are limited, therefore we can not offer you private single rooms. However we promise you hotels and gites with character, comfort and good food. The limited accommodation availability is also reason why we recommend that you book this trip as early as possible, as it is often difficult to find rooms at the last minute.

Food

All meals are included in this trip, from dinner on arrival day to breakfast on the last day. We provide a large sandwich and 2 trail bars as packed lunches. We recommend that you bring additional snacks with you as these can be expensive to purchase on the way. Dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice, please inform us at time of booking if you have any special requests.

Level Requirements

You will hike about 15km per day and there will be a good amount of ascent and descent on this trip. However, the pace will be steady and, if you hike regularly, you should have no problem keeping up with the schedule.

Your bags will be transported between the hotels / huts by a car so you will only need to carry a small day pack. Please bring only one main luggage (clearly labeled with your name) and one day pack for this trek.
