Chamonix granite climbing is rightfully world famous for its high quality, variety and accessibility. Historical routes, always seeking out the paths of least resistance, neighbor more recent technical routes.

From pure dihedrals to splitter cracks and smooth slabs, you'll experience the whole range of granite rock climbing on this five day course. Climbing the perfect red granite surrounded by the unique Mont-Blanc scenery will be an unforgettable moment.

Our fully qualified and highly experienced mountain guides will take you climbing some of the best Chamonix classics – routes such as the Nabot Leon on the Red Pillar of Blatiere or the Rebuffat on the Eperon des Cosmiques. The famous Envers des Aiguilles has plenty of long and beautiful climbs to offer, many of them topping out on the Alps most stunning peaks.

From Pyramid of the Tacul to the Adolf Rey spires and the Trident the quality of rock only gets better. You will be walking in the steps of such mountaineering giants as Rebuffat, Lachenal, Piola or Contamine.

This course will help you to improve your rope work, route finding skills and climbing skills; all of which are essential for climbing long granite routes.

You will not only discover new routes and improve your technique but, most importantly, you will enjoy climbing pitch after pitch of cracks, slabs, chimneys and dihedrals! 

The mountain huts in the Mont Blanc range offer easy access to many climbs and summits. The Argentiere bassin or the Couvercle hut give access to the Minaret, or the beautiful Moine.

Level Requirements

You should have previous rock climbing experience, know how to belay, abseil and be comfortable following fifth class rock routes. You have to have previous experience in glacier travel and know how to use crampons and ice axes.

It is essential that you are in good physical shape. You should be able to complete a 5 hour hill walk at a strong and steady pace without difficulty. If you need any advice on how best to prepare for this course please just let us know.
