Climb Mont Blanc 8 days
New flexible itinerary with 2 summit days
From years of experience organizing Mont Blanc ascents, Chamonix Experience has developed this NEW eight-day Climb Mont Blanc itinerary with 3 days dedicated to the summit attempt. This allows for more flexibility should bad weather intervene and maximizes your chances of reaching the summit of Mont Blanc. The three preparation days have also changed to a more exciting itinerary. We are staying at the Orny hut in Switzerland and making our way back to France via Aiguille du Tour and a stunning high glacier traverse. Still included, is the very popular day traversing the Vallee Blanche to the Italian side of the Mont Blanc range. Not only do you get to climb Mont Blanc but also visit three countries in a week!
While not technically challenging, ascending Mont Blanc requires a high level of physical fitness and experience using crampons and an ice axe. Climbing Mont Blanc is not a high altitude trek. It is a mountaineering itinerary and the key to success is preparation. Weather conditions aside, the physical challenge and effects of altitude will present more barriers to success than any technical obstacles. This climb Mont Blanc itinerary includes three preparation days, the primary goal being to spend as much time acclimatising at altitude as possible. To achieve this we will be exploring the fantastic high mountain terrain of the Mont Blanc range, climbing lesser peaks and spending a night in a mountain hut. You will also be taught glacier travel techniques and have plenty of time to practise your crampon and ice axe skills in preparation for a safe and successful ascent of Mont Blanc. The final three days are for the ascent itself, with a guide to client ratio of 1:2.
* Check out our 8 day course itinerary for more details.
Depending upon conditions and the ability of the group, your Chamonix Experience guide will select one of two possible routes to climb Mont Blanc. Slightly more technical, the route from the Aiguille du Midi, over Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Maudit is generally quieter, and highly dependent on conditions. The slightly easier and more reliable option is via the Tramway du Mont Blanc to the Nid d’Aigle, then over the Dôme du Goûter and the Bosses ridge.
* Check out our route guide for more details.
* Everything apart from your personal equipment is included in the course fee – no need to spend extra Euros during your holiday.
Please note: Our climb Mont Blanc course programme is not fixed and our experienced IFMGA mountain guides will adapt the programme to suit the group. The weather is an important factor and routes will be chosen to maximise training, preparation and summit success taking the weather and conditions into account.
