The Mittellegi is the east ridge of the Eiger, stretching from Ostegg (2709 m) to the summit. It is the longest and arguably the most spectacular ridge on the mountain, first climbed in 1921.
Climbing the Eiger via the Mittellegi Ridge offers unbeatable views: to the south, the lush green valley of Grindelwald, and to the north, the towering shadow of the Eiger’s North Face. Much of the route follows the sharp crest of the ridge, combining limestone rock, snow, and ice. You’ll spend one night in the Mittellegi Hut, a remote alpine refuge nestled among the dramatic peaks of the region — a true highlight of the experience.
This Eiger ascent with a UIAGM guide is a demanding but deeply rewarding climb. It’s suited for mountaineers with prior alpine experience, ideally those who have completed our Matterhorn Course, Alpine Climbing Course, or a private preparation course. The climb is done over two days, with one night spent in the hut. We maintain a strict 1:1 client-to-guide ratio to ensure maximum safety and a fully personalized experience.
The Eiger season typically runs from mid-July to mid-September, though conditions can occasionally be favorable from early July.
