Chamex avalanche awareness day

Join our Chamonix avalanche safety course and learn the essentials of avalanche awareness, terrain recognition, and rescue basics. A perfect one-day introduction for skiers and snowboarders exploring off-piste terrain.

Why Join Our Chamonix Avalanche Safety Course?

Chamonix Avalanche Safety Course — Learn Essential Skills for Safe Backcountry Skiing. Chamonix Experience offers a foundational avalanche awareness and safety course designed for skiers and snowboarders who want to explore the backcountry safely and responsibly in the Chamonix valley.

Avalanche Safety Equipment & Rescue Techniques

During this hands-on course, you will learn how to use essential avalanche rescue equipment—transceiver, probe, and shovel. Practical rescue drills and realistic scenarios teach you how to locate and assist a buried victim, while highlighting the importance of teamwork, communication, and efficient decision-making during emergencies.

Understanding Avalanches & Safe Travel in the Mountains

Key topics include:

  • How avalanches form and why they occur
  • Safe route planning and terrain recognition
  • Correct behaviour and risk management while touring
  • Field rescue protocols and efficient team leadership

You will be guided through assessing the snowpack, interpreting terrain hazards, and identifying warning signs that help you avoid accidents before they happen.

Preparation, Planning & Responsible Backcountry Travel

The course places strong emphasis on good preparation. Participants learn to read avalanche bulletins, evaluate conditions, and make informed decisions before venturing into avalanche terrain. Our goal is to build a culture of responsibility, awareness, and proactive risk management.

Taught by Experts with Real Mountain Rescue Experience

With a strong background in mountain rescue (PGHM Chamonix), our guides understand how crucial avalanche awareness is for anyone travelling off-piste. This course empowers you to take responsibility for your own safety in the mountains—because ultimately, your decisions are your best protection.
