Off-Piste Level Assessment

Your first day will focus on assessing your current off-piste skills and technical ability. Our experienced instructors will tailor the best itinerary for your snowboard freeride course in Chamonix. Safety comes first — you’ll also learn essential avalanche awareness, transceiver use, and basic mountain safety skills.

Improve Your Off-Piste Technique

The rest of the course is all about progressing your freeride snowboarding. Small group sizes guarantee personalized coaching to refine your skills and boost your confidence. Your guide will lead you through targeted technical exercises, adapting the program to group ability, weather, snow conditions, and local terrain knowledge.

Discover Off-Piste Terrain in Chamonix

Chamonix’s varied landscape makes it the perfect playground for your introductory freeride snowboarding Chamonix course. Much of the training takes place at Les Grands Montets, the area’s largest ski zone, featuring everything from open runs to powder bowls. Depending on conditions, you might also experience freeride skiing in neighboring resorts like Saint Gervais, Les Contamines, Verbier (Switzerland) or Courmayeur (Italy). Beginner

Discover backcountry snowboarding. You have a good level snowboarding on piste, and are comfortable skiing on all groomed runs, making small turns, turning on demand, and skiing moguls/ bumps. You have no experience venturing off-piste, and would like to get further from the lifts – skiing powder and “natural” mountain snow.

Our team is based at the foot of the Aiguillle du Midi cable car and will be happy to help you with any questions you may have before, during or after your trip to Chamonix.

Not included in price

Skis / Snowboards

The price does not include skis/snowboards, boots or clothing. If you do not have your own we can help you organise rental, please ask us for details.

Lift Passes

We will advise you on which lift passes you will need prior to your trip. If lift passes are required we can preorder them for you on request.

Insurance

Travel insurance that includes mountain search and rescue is strongly recommended. We can arrange this coverage for you upon request.
We also highly recommend having a policy that covers medical treatment, as well as trip cancellation, to protect the value of your holiday.
When choosing a policy, please ensure it specifically covers the activities and altitudes included in your itinerary.

Food & Drink

The price does not include lunch or snacks. You can bring your own food and we can stop for a picnic, or there may be the option to buy lunch at a mountain hut. Please make sure that you are carrying sufficient water and snacks as we will be in the mountains for a number of hours.

Accommodation in Chamonix

Accommodation in Chamonix is not included in the price but we would be happy to advise or organise it on request.

Travel to Chamonix

The price does not include flights, airport transfers or any other travel to/from Chamonix. However, we can organise airport transfers for you on request, please contact us for details.
