Mont Blanc Guided Ascent via Gonella Route – 6-Day Course

Looking for a quieter, more authentic way to climb Mont Blanc? Our Mont Blanc Guided Ascent via the Gonella Route offers a challenging and rewarding alternative to the classic French route—without the use of any uplifts.

This 6-day course begins in Val Veny, near Courmayeur in Italy, and takes you up Mont Blanc via the scenic and less-traveled Gonella Route. Starting in the beautiful Italian Alps, you’ll hike to the Gonella Hut (3,071 m), where you’ll spend the night before your summit attempt via the Piton des Italiens. The route climbs Mont Blanc’s southern side, offering solitude, stunning views, and a true alpine experience. At 4,809 m, the summit of Mont Blanc rewards you with breathtaking vistas over the entire Alpine range.

Your descent follows the classic Goûter Route, taking you down the French side of the mountain and into Chamonix via the Nid d’Aigle, allowing you to experience both sides of this iconic peak.

Why Choose the Gonella Route?

The Mont Blanc Guided Ascent via the Gonella Route is ideal for climbers looking to avoid the crowds and embrace a more technical, longer, and remote line to the summit. It is not suitable for beginners, but perfect for fit, experienced mountaineers seeking a more committing challenge in a quiet, high-mountain environment.
