Itinerary
Please note: This itinerary is a sample and may be adjusted based on weather, snow conditions, and the skill level of the group.
Arrival day
There will be a pre-departure meeting at our Chamonix office the day before the tour, where you’ll meet your guide, check your equipment, and have the opportunity to ask any questions.
D1 Lammerenhorn (2806m)
Our journey begins in the charming village of Leukerbad, where we take the cable car up to the scenic Gemmipass at 2,315 m. From there, we tour to the beautifully situated Lämmerenhütte at 2,507 m, nestled in the heart of the mountains. If conditions and energy allow, we’ll enjoy an additional ascent toward the Lämmerenhorn at 2,806 m for even more stunning alpine views. +500m
D2 Wildstrubel (3,244 m) – Gross Strubel (3,243 m)
Today’s objective is a classic high alpine traverse, taking in two stunning summits in a single day. We begin with an ascent of the Wildstrubel (3,244 m), the highest peak in the massif, offering panoramic views across the Bernese Alps and into Valais. From the summit, we continue the traverse toward the Grossstrubel (3,243 m), enjoying a rewarding descent followed by a second climb to this equally scenic peak. This ambitious day involves skiing two 3,000 m+ summits, breathtaking alpine scenery, and long, enjoyable ski descents. A true highlight of the Wildstrubel ski tour and a memorable achievement for any ski tourer.
D3 Rote Totz (2845m)
We begin with a climb of approximately 300 meters to reach the Rote Totz, a quiet and panoramic summit offering expansive views over the Wildstrubel region. From there, we enjoy a beautiful 400-meter descent to the remote and serene Talliseewli Lake, often frozen and snow-covered in winter, creating a peaceful alpine backdrop.
After a short break, we transition skins and begin our second ascent toward the Schwarzgrätli ridge. The route here offers a more wild and remote feel, with impressive views into the surrounding valleys. Once at the ridge, we enjoy another descent of roughly 400 meters down to the historic Berghotel Schwarenbach, a cozy mountain inn nestled at 2,060 meters, where we’ll spend the night.
D4 Alte Gemmi Pass
Our final day begins at the Berghotel Schwarenbach with a steady ascent toward the historic Alte Gemmi Pass, gaining approximately 800 meters in elevation. This climb takes us along a scenic and well-traveled route that has served as a traditional crossing point between the Bernese Oberland and the Valais for centuries.
As we reach the Alte Gemmi, we’re rewarded with sweeping views of the Valais peaks and the striking landscape surrounding the Daubensee. From the pass, we begin a long, enjoyable 600-meter descent toward the lake and the upper slopes above Leukerbad.
The descent is typically wide and mellow, making for a relaxed finish to the tour with time to enjoy the mountain surroundings. We conclude the itinerary by skiing down to the top station of the Leukerbad lift system, where we end the trip with a well-earned rest and the option to descend to the village by cable car.
This final stage is a satisfying combination of physical effort, historical interest, and scenic skiing—an excellent way to close out the Wildstrubel ski tour.
